“Gosh - what a fantastic find!!! A gorgeous setting with absolutely charming hosts - don’t tell anyone……(our secret). 10 out of 10. Thankyou.” Mark and Sarah from London, August 2010.

Veitchly House is a large, comfortable house located in a quiet lane just 15 minutes walk from the uniquely preserved village of Lacock. It is in a peaceful and idyllic situation overlooking fields in all directions. Originally a pair of 16th/17th century stone cottages, it was added to initially in Victorian times to provide a shop for the nearby defunct Wiltshire and Berkshire canal. Over the past thirty years, further changes have been made to provide more family living space.

We love our home which is ideally suited to offering B&B accommodation. Our guests are accommodated in the original cottages at the older end of the house whereas we live at the opposite end, thus providing guests with a high level of privacy. Whilst we are able to offer two rooms with their own en suite/private facilities, we have a policy of only letting the second king sized bedroom when there is a party of four - two couples who are friends, or a family. The bedrooms have TVs and Wifi capability is available.

Lacock, near Bath, is not only an historic and picturesque village. Of particular interest are the National Trust owned medieval cloistered Abbey and the photography museum dedicated to Fox Talbot, the photography pioneer.

Both Lacock Abbey and the village have featured in a number of film and TV productions including Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice and, most recentrly, Cranford.

Within the village are three pubs and the historic Sign of the Angel inn, all providing a range of food. Just over ten minutes’ walk away is the Bell at Bewley Lane which serves both excellent beer and a wide choice of meals.

There are many other places to visit within half an hour’s drive - Bath, Dyrham, Bradford on Avon, The Courts at Holt, Avebury, Corsham Court, Great Chalfield. Further afield, within an hour, are Stonehenge, Westonbirt Arboretum, Stourhead and Salisbury.
